Perranporth

The name Perranporth is Cornish for 'Saint Piran's cove'. Saint Piran is the patron saint of Cornwall and his symbol of the white-on-black cross features on the county's flag.

The Lost Church

It is believed that Saint Piran founded the church near to Perranporth, known locally as The Lost Church as after being built in the seventh century, it became buried under sand for many centuries there after. It was uncovered again in the early 20th Century, but became hidden once more in the 1970s.
